COVID-19 Daily Life: Online games to keep you amused

COVID-19 (also called the coronavirus) is changing the way we all do things for the next few months, with social distancing and non-essential shut-downs our new normal. To help you move with the times, stay connected and keep entertained, the Digital Ready for Daily Life program has put together info, tips, tricks, hacks and how-to’s for all things digital in your daily life.

Being in isolation is a challenge to find interesting things to do to keep your brain active and stop you from being bored. Luckily you can find lots of interesting games in the App or Play Store, and many of them are free.

Jigsaws online? Why yes! They are best used with an iPad or larger screen but are also good on a large screen smartphone. Searching on any words like jigsaw, crosswords, Sudoku or word puzzles will bring up more options than you could imagine. Include the word 'FREE' in your search terms ("jigsaw free") if you don’t want to pay to use them. Just be aware that many the free versions have in-app purchases or pop up advertising to keep them free.

There is a games icon in the App and Play stores so as well as crosswords and jigsaws you can also find classic arcade games, video games, multi player games, card games and even pool.

If you are a Library Tasmania member you can also access their extensive range of games, plus comics and graphic novels. Everything you need to keep yourself and the family entertained during COVID-19 without leaving the house or spending a dollar!
